What is ADSL Broadband?
ADSL Broadband is a high
speed always on technology which gives
connectivity to the internet at a fixed
monthly price, and still allows use of the
phone line for voice or fax calls. The
download speeds range from 512 kbs (kilobits
per second) to 2000 kbs. The upload speed for
each product is 256kbs. The service is digital
based and runs over the copper wires from an
analogue phone line, making installation quick
and cheap. For most companies utilising a fax
line is normal, and they can still send the
faxes. Once you have used
ADSL Broadband, you will
never want to use a modem again!
Requirements for
ADSL Broadband
Customers need to be
close to an ADSL Broadband enabled exchange. You can
check your number by using our
ADSL Broadband
availability checker here. If your number is
accepted, you need to have an analogue phone
line to run the service down. There are some
phone systems which ADSL Broadband will not work
with such as ISDN and Business Highways.
ISDN Conversion
Converting from an ISDN line to an ADSL
connection is a simple and painless process with
Gconnect. All that is required is that you
determine whether your exchange is ADSL enabled
using our
ADSL availability checker. Then if it
is available in your area let us know that you
want to upgrade your line to ADSL, the number of
the ISDN line that you want to use for the
service and we’ll take care of the rest for you.
We’ll arrange for the BT engineer to call at
your site and install the new line, there will
be a charge of £50.00 made by BT for the
conversion process, which will appear on your
next phone bill. You will need to use a router
capable of handling ADSL traffic, these are
listed on our
hardware page. Gconnect can guide you
through the process from start to finish,
bringing your business up to date with its
connectivity issues.
Adding Resilience to
your ADSL Connection
ADSL , though far cheaper than the equivalent
leased line, in its standard form is not subject
to a service level agreement (SLA). If
connectivity to the internet or a remote network
is mission critical to your business, then some
form of backup connection is needed. ISDN
connections form a viable (although not as high
bandwidth) alternative to ADSL if the line were
to drop, allowing you to keep business going in
times of ADSL service failure. Gconnect can
provide a dial in connection with a dedicated
fixed ip on a pay-as-you-go tariff as an extra
service for your ADSL line. You will need to use
a router capable of switching connections, these
are listed on our
hardware page. In addition, Gconnect
can configure SMTP mail feeds to cope with the
change of IP address in case of an emergency.
Why use Gconnect as
your ADSL Broadband Provider?
Gconnect can provide
the full range of broadband products and as a
leading ISP provider can add to this service
to become your ADSL Broadband provider. The one
stop Internet service provider solution works
for most small - medium sized companies, who
are interested in the benefits of ADSL Broadband
and the internet, not the route that gets you
there.
